Charles A. Lowery

	Charles A. Lowery, 70, of Morganfield, Kentucky, formerly of Golconda, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 22, 2001 in Morganfield.
	Mr. Lowery was born August 30, 1930.  He graduated from Golconda Community High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Golconda.  He served as President of the Lions Club in Morganfield, was a member of the VFW and was  commissioned as an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
	 He served four years and three months as an air policeman in the United States Air Force.  He served as Golcondas City Marshall and was security supervisor for Caterpillar Co. in Joliet.  He worked for the Earl C. Clemens Job Corps Center in Breckenridge, Ky. for a number of years before his retirement.
	Survivors include three daughters, Annette Tapp of Sturgis, Ky., Gail Lowery of Lexington, Ky. and Crystal Robison of Morganfield; three grandchildren, Kristen and Cierra Robison of Morganfield and Daniel Tapp of Sturgis; a brother, James Lowery of Golconda; a sister and brother-in-law, Grethel and Bandy Warren of Golconda and a sister, Sarah Doerner of DuQuoin.
	Other survivors include two nieces, Marie Warren of Golconda and Emma OBrien of Harrisburg; a nephew, Carlton Doerner of DuQuoin and a grandnephew and his wife, Shawn and Jennifer OBrien of Powder Springs, Ga.
	He was preceded in death by  his parents; an infant brother; a brother-in-law, Carroll Doerner and a nephew-in-law, Richard OBrien.
	 Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Ky.  Burial with military honors was in the Peters Creek Cemetery near Elizabethtown, Ill.  Visitation was from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 24.  Memorials may be made to the Golconda Public Library, Golconda, IL 62938.
